Are we able to prevent invasive meningococcal disease in Brazil?

Background: Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) remains a major public health problem associated with death and severe consequences, especially in children. However, IMD is preventable through vaccination, vaccines available to cover five of the six most common disease-causing strains (A, B, C, X, Y, W). Surveillance systems are necessary for monitoring incidence, together severity serogroup prevalence disease. knowledge Neisseria meningitidis (Nm) serogroups critical adopting best strategies immunization. Method: In Brazil, all cases reported National Disease Notification System (SINAN). The goal this study evaluate epidemiological microbiological data retrieved from SINAN 2007–19. Conclusions: Hence, improving information crucial guiding future prevention, such as vaccination control strategies.
